Clonakilty is the Beach Centre of West Cork. Numerous unspoilt sandy beaches, coves and harbours nearby are a must to be explored. The natural beauty of the surrounding countryside is enhanced even more by the abundance of birdlife to be discovered on Clonakilty's tidal bay, marshes and hinterland. Some 201 species have been recorded along 20 miles of coast around Clonakilty.
